Bradford Licensing LLC – a global licensing firm representing some of the world’s best-known logos, trademarks, and entertainment properties – was extremely pleased by the high level of interest they received at the Dallas Toy Show especially for two of their properties: the infamous Sherlock Holmes property which has inspired the imminent major motion picture release of the same name and musical comedy television show, “The Wannabes,” a ‘tween television show made by writer/producer Doreen Spicer (Disney Channel’s hit movie, Jump In! and The Proud Family) and aimed at by Eric Dean Seaton (Suite Life of Zack and Cody, That’s So Raven, Cory in The House and Sonny With A Opportunity). It debuts in Australia this December and is making its domestic debut in early 2010.
The name Sherlock Holmes conjures up images of surprise, mystery, suspense, cat and mouse scenarios, and clue digging. One might say this is a mystery’s dream for making games. “I found that the exhibitors at the Dallas Toy Show made an nearly immediate association when matching Sherlock with toys and games. They spoke of some of their initial thoughts with fantastic enthusiasm,” said Neil Platt, associate at Bradford Licensing. The imminent Christmas release and franchise of Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law will undoubtedly support the brand’s success.
The toy industry has done exceedingly well with shows like Hannah Montana and High School Musical and now the stage has been set for The Wannabes. The Wannabes aspirational tone combines singing, dancing and comedy all wrapped-up in tale shape concerning friendships, dreams and every day ‘tween challenges. “Many exhibitors were looking for the next huge thing and we feel that the The Wannabes just might fit the bill. The brand can be translated into myriad games and toys, including interactive ones such as musical instruments and record games. Doll, room belt, jewelry and camera are a few types of companies that were excited about working with The Wannabes,” noted Milin Shah, Bradford associate.
